I’ll have a Double Happiness with a side of Self- Reflection

Go ahead… make it a double!  Investing in this will leave you far more healthy and wealthy thank- you very much!  We like to say, “Happiness is an inside job”  but we know its also in the inside of really nice glass of tea ???   How you fill your soul and spirit is so important and we know that inner exploration “Ain’t for the FAINT of heart”.   It‘s true… you don’t always find what you are looking for, but with a little nudge, you tend to find what you need.  Happiness is that magic and  joy you feel in the pursuit of your path… Knowing you, without fear of judgement are critical to true happiness. How bout that for a Rock em- Sock em Slugfest of Inner Exploration? But… your worth it and the pay off is Priceless… You become Unshakable, Fierce and Fearless in the Pursuit of your purpose in Life and your Career.  Ahhh Yes Please… I’ll have another!  And you should… daily, weekly and monthly rituals of Self reflection are foundations to living your life with Purpose.

We often recommend Self Reflection as a key to mastery in the fear of doubt, change or need for growth.  Self-reflection is defined as “meditation or serious thought about one’s character, actions, and motives.” It’s about taking a step back and reflecting on your life, behavior and beliefs.  Many Olympians, Boss Leaders & Spiritual Gangsters see Self-Reflection as a critical element in success, and the TIME is RIGHT!  As our world slows down, have you? It’s giving us full permission to take a little time to breathe, lean into discomfort and perhaps make more meaning in your life.  With so much Chaos and Disruption, we believe our World needs a little more Peace and THIS part is on you;  Still Mind, Peaceful Heart and Wild Eyes are desperately welcomed into our families, communities and workplaces.

It’s up to you to put yourself on the TO DO list and create time for Stillness, Reflection & Growth.  In doing so, your blueprint will be custom and engineered just for you.  You will have a solid idea of who you are, how you operate and the values, people and activities that are essential for your own growth.  You’ll become soul rooted and you won’t get easily side tracked when life hands you a fist full of Lemons.  You’ll create true G.R.I.T. in that rebel heart of yours that’s full of pride about who you are and where you’ve been.

Here are a few leap off questions:

A Quick Google and We Found a Few Questions To Guide Self Reflection:

  1. How do I feel overall about this area of my life? On a scale of 1-10, how would I rate my levels of satisfaction and success?
  2. What’s working? What’s not working?
  3. What do I want more of – or less of?
  4. What are my accomplishments/wins/successes? (People often default to what’s wrong or hasn’t worked – it’s just as important to focus on what’s going right!)
  5. What do I want? What are my hopes or goals?
  6. What am I grateful for?
  7. How would I improve this area of my life? What actions can I take?

So to reflect is good, to reflect with humility is… More on that here:  The Virtue of Humility

BONUS POINTS:  Activities to Cultivate Humility

  2. Practice mindfulness, and focus on the present; Be Present
  3. Be grateful for what you have; Practice Gratitude

  5. Seek feedback from others on a regular basis. Access Courage

If Self Refection isn’t a usual thing, we get it!  Life is full and humans are messy.  But, when it’s time for you to take a step back and hop off of the Life Merry Go Round, take this time to Reflect.

Whichever step you take next is Perfect. There’s no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to do this. It’s only what works for you.  If we’ve learned anything from working with thousands of clients over the years, different things work for different people. There’s no one size fits all approach to self-reflection, just like there’s no one size fits all approach to life. The investment in you will pay off in more ways than is even conceivable; your heart, family and colleagues will Thank you…

So… What steps can you take to  Shine Bright next week?

Happy Friday Princeton:-)

Your Friendly Skills Team~

You know what they say: “Shift Happens!”

There’s a revolution happening in skilled Trades!!!

The revolution is being sparked by automation, low-carbon economies, digitization, and other emerging work trends. These new technologies need skills that are not usually at the core of a trade school education.
On behalf of the Future Skills Centre,  The Conference Board of Canada is researching Canadian apprenticeships as part of its work on experiential learning. Check out more by clicking the below link to the full article.

Sprott Shaw is offering Princeton & Area locals an educational opportunity to advance in the High Opportunity Occupation of Health Care!  They will offer 8 spots to residents, application to be in before July 17th and this 29 week program will start August 24th! The great advantage is it will be offered via distance learning and the driving to and from classes has been eliminated.

Health Care Assistants (HCAs) are prepared to work in both healthcare facilities and community agencies. In these roles they are important and valued members of the health care team. They promote and maintain the health, safety, independence, comfort and well-being of individuals and families. HCA’s provide personal care assistance and services in a caring manner that recognizes and supports the unique needs, abilities and backgrounds of clients. They work as members of a health care team in a variety of settings with direction and supervision from other health professionals.
The work done by HCAs is based on a set of fundamental values, beliefs and ethical principles that are consistently reflected in all aspects of their work with clients, families, team members and others.  Amongst these core values, beliefs and principles, which serve as foundations of HCA practice, are those related to:
• Human Beings
• Older Adults
• Health and Healing
• Healthcare
• Caring & Care giving
• The Family in Health and Healing
• Understanding Culture and Diversity

The HCA Program is designed to provide students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to function effectively as front-line care-givers, and respected members of the healthcare team, in community and facility settings. Under the direction and supervision of a health care professional, graduates provide person-centered care aimed at promoting and maintaining the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of clients.

What a wonderful opportunity for our community !!!

Coming out of a Covid Coma

We are open… and it feels… well…different.  We are slower and more thoughtful about our interactions, we’ve increased our health and safety protocols, installed our engineered controls, all in anticipation to safely welcome you back!   As we begin to emerge from this Lockdown and move through the next phases of reality, we are noticing a slowness, a remembering, and re-learning.  This time collides with a season of what would normally be a fast moving spring and summer… its like the outside world and our inside worlds are a little out of whack.  Our muscle memory sorta needs a patient reminder to slow down,  embrace vulnerability and adapt to a different time.

The Conference Board of Canada has developed a series of webinars and podcasts to help our nation and its leaders begin to embrace, acknowledge and plan for the world that awaits.  In this Bright Futures Podcast, Health columnist André Picard joins us to talk about what we can expect as we move to the next phase of the COVID-19 crisis: the slow reopening.  What lessons have we learned so far? And will we remember them? How will we bring social distancing to the workplace?  And what are the “bright spots” in this? —the changes that are happening that have been a long time coming.

This may be a fine time for us to collaborate and immerse ourselves into these conversations, feel supported and move consciously out of this… Covid Coma, with a renewed perspective and a feeling of togetherness. Now, more than ever, we need an intentional slow walk back into each others lives, and a kind renewal of how we do things, with an open spirit for accepting change.   We have got this… See you soon Princeton!
