How Important is Grade 12 Completion?

Re-Think Education

Education and training will play an increasingly important role in the labour market over the upcoming next 10 years.  People looking for work will find that they will need a minimum of some type of post secondary training in order to qualify for 78% of the future jobs.  This projection leaves only 22% of available jobs that will require only High School or less that High School.  This is alarming to say the lease, and good advice is to complete your Grade 12 at a minimum, and to seriously consider putting a plan into action to acquire some career specific training.

Sourcing out High School Education in our area will take you to two avenues that will help you get on the path to completion.  The Bridge is the School District #58 alternate school and is located in the Riverside Centre.  Their phone number is 250-295-3180.  If the Bridge will not work for any reason, try the South Centre Interior Distance Education School (SCIDES).  They are located in Merritt, however their programming is online and they do have teachers on hand to help with subject matter.  Find SCIDES on the web.  Finally, and as always, we at the Princeton Skills Centre will continue to work for you in accessing this information.  Stop in to our office during office hours.

2018 PRINCETON LABOUR MARKET PROJECT!

Its kinda our thing… we are curious about…. JOBS!  We have rolled up our sleeves and looking for the latest information on our local JOBS! Keeping our knowledge sharp, and our finger on the “Pulse” of Princeton’s Labour Market, we are making calls, meeting with local employers, and hoping to gather a snapshot of Princeton’s Vibrant & Diverse Employment scene.

We are asking questions like:

  1. How many jobs are available in these sectors?
    • Mining, Forestry, Production, Hospitality, Health Care, Construction, Professional Services, Social Services and Government?
  2. What are the types of jobs? What jobs are in demand now?
  3. What is the average wage?
  4. What does a typical work day look like?
  5. What training or skills are they looking for in their applicants resume?
  6. What is the
  7. Whats the Hiring and Interviewing Process?

Soo there you have it… what we have been up to… nothing fancy, just working the local employers, asking questions, and making great connections!

For more information pop into our WORK BC Centre for the latest trends and opportunities in Employment!

The Job Market is demanding DRIVERS LICENSES!!!

Our Local and Regional Labour Markets are experiencing a desperate need for Licensed Drivers.  Class 1, 2 3, and 5 licenses are in demand!!!  Even entry level production workers need to produce a drivers license… WHY would you need a drivers license to be in production??? Well it is what the license says… it tells employers that you have maintained a level of wellness to protect your license, and it indicates that your life has been managed somewhat.  So our best advice moving into employment is to obtain a license ASAP, and PROTECT it! Get studying for your learners as fast as humanly possible… make the commitment to practice, and for heavens sake… keep the darn thing VALID! Check out the link for more info!
